Low testosterone levels in men can affect their life and create many problems. Testosterone is a very important hormone that is responsible for the male sex organs, functionality and sperm production. In addition, the testosterone is also responsible for the male muscular system, the muscle growth and the bone growth in their body. In this article, I’m going to go through some of the causes for the problem, you may find it useful.
Just like women, men experience menopause too, only for them it’s called “andropause”. In their andropause stage, men tend to suffer from low testosterone levels which affect their sex life and their overall strength. It can be caused by many reasons and it is hard do know the cause for a particular man. One of the reasons is a possible problem at the level of the hypothalamus or pituitary. Another possible reason is that the organs that are responsible for producing testosterone do not function well and do not respond to the brain as they should.
In case the problem is in the organs (not producing testosterone as they should), there are few common causes like:
1.Being exposed to radiation or some kind of chemotherapy. In this case, the testosterone levels may return to be normal with time but it’s not guaranteed.
2.Klinefelter’s syndrome- in this case the male has an extra X chromosome which causes abnormal development of tests, among other issues.
3.Getting old- as we age, the body produces less testosterone because Mother Nature knows that we usually bring children to the world when we are young. For that reason, we no longer need high levels of testosterone when we are older and the body saves energy by making less, saving energy for other things. There isn’t really something we can do about it other than taking supplements that will try to increase our testosterone levels artificially.
4.Inflammation- inflammation of the tests can cause many problems, low testosterone levels are among them. To prevent this from happening you can get immunized.
5.Damaged testicles- that’s pretty common actually. Many men were born with undeveloped tests that didn’t make it out of the abdomen on time (in the first year or two). In some cases, surgery is the only way to put things right. The waiting time could have damaged the testicles and the damage is often irreversible. Another possibility is if the testicles were injured during childhood or even later on. Usually, one injured testicle will not cause low levels of testosterone, but two damaged tests can. That’s why athletes and boxers make sure to protect their “assets” and protect their next generation.
If you’re having difficulties and think you have low testosterone symptoms, pay your doctor a visit and make sure he does a full checkup. Also, don’t get stressed if you do have low testosterone levels, it is treatable for some and even if it’s not the case with you, there are other options. I know that’s not what most men like to hear but there is nothing else to do really.
